- Twenty20 format of Cricket was invented by ECB marketing manager Stuart Robertson in year 2000-01.
- The first ever T20 International was played on February 17, 2005 between Australia and New Zealand in Auckland
- Upsets are part of T20 matches. Bangladesh beating West Indies and Zimbabwe beating Australia is possible.
- World Champions India have only played 13 T20matches so far
- If the fielding team do not start to bowl their 20th over within 75 minutes, the batting side is credited extra six runs for every over bowled.
- In case of a tie in the deciding 'Super Over' or 'Eliminator', the team with the maximum number of sixes will win the game
- So far, 22 T20 matches have ended in a tie.
- Highest T20 score is 260/6 - Sri Lanka against Kenya in Johannesburg on September 14, 2007.

- Rohit Sharma scored the only three figure score in T20s on Indian soil — an unbeaten 101 in 45 balls for Mumbai against Gujarat in Mumbai on April 4, 2007.
- Andrew Symonds has scored the fastest century in T20s (34 balls) during his knock of 112 for Kent against Middlesex at Maidstone on July 2, 2004.
- Australian David Hussey has hit the maximum sixes — 82.
- Sohail Tanvir's 6-14 for Rajasthan against Chennai in Jaipur on May 4, 2008 is the best ever bowling performance in T20s.
- Dimitri Mascarenhas became the first bowler in T20s to claim a hat-trick, when he achieved this distinction for Hampshire against Sussex at Hove on July 7, 2004.
- Yuvraj Singh is the only bowler in T20s to claim hat-tricks on two separate occasions.
- A maiden over in T20 is difficult but South Africa's Tyron Henderson and David Masters of England have six maidens each in their T20 career — the most in T20s.
- South Africa's Albie Morkel has the distinction of appearing in most T20 matches. He has played 82 matches for various teams.
- Unlike 50-50 World cup, T20 World cup organizes every second year. First World cup was held at South Africa.
