2009 T20 World Cup A Great Success
The 2009 T20 World Cup held in England was a great sporting and financial success with Pakistan defeating Sri Lanka in the Lord's final. The tournament took place to full houses and was played in largely fine weather.
Pakistan surprised many by lifting the cup but improved steadily throughout the tournament with Shahid Afridi recovering form at just the right time to prove a talismanic force for his side. From a playing perspective the 2009 T20 World Cup reinforced the edict that, whatever the duration of game, it is bowlers that win matches. The teams with the most potent bowling attacks - Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa being the outstanding sides present.
2010 T20 World Cup
The 2010 tournament in the West Indies will again be a festival of exciting and attractive cricket. The West Indies will be favoured on home soil but teams from the sub continent will again provide stern opposition. However, the very nature of T20 makes prediction unreliable. What can be assured is another outstanding few weeks of top class sporting entertainment.
